WESTERN AIRCRAFT ANNOUNCES $17M EXPANSION

Western Aircraft, a Greenwich AeroGroup company, announced that it is undertaking its second major expansion in six years.

The new 93,000 square foot addition on Western’s existing 18-acre leasehold in Boise will more than double its existing MRO operating space. The expansion includes a 53,000 square foot hangar and 40,000 square feet of back shop/office space. The new hangar will support Western’s growing jet maintenance capabilities and the new back shop/office space will provide room for the company’s expanding interiors shop capabilities and administration offices. Western’s current MRO space is approximately 90,000 square feet.

“This expansion would not be possible without the tremendous support we have received at both the local and state levels,” said Vice President and General Manager for Western Aircraft Austin Shontz. “We are proud to be based in Idaho and to continue to grow and expand our presence here in Boise.”

“As one of the largest aviation services businesses in the West with over 60 years of history in Idaho, we are excited for Western Aircraft's continued investments in Idaho," said Idaho Department of Commerce Director Tom Kealey. "From technicians to back- office support, Western Aircraft is creating more than 130 new high-paying jobs to meet their customer's diverse and growing needs, and further demonstrate their unmatched commitment to our community."

In 2014, Western Aircraft completed a $4.7 million expansion to its campus adding two new buildings, facility improvements and specialized tooling.

“We are proud to be part of Western Aircraft’s second major expansion in Boise,” said City of Boise Mayor Lauren McLean. “This is a great example of our long-term investment in our community, the power of collaborative working relationships with project partners and our solutions-oriented approach to economic development. We are pleased that this project will support Western Aircraft’s growing jet maintenance capabilities to our community.”

Western maintains a substantial customer base from the United States and Canada and boasts an extensive history of working on diverse types of airframes including Citation, Falcon, Embraer, Gulfstream, Hawker, King Air, Pilatus, Piper and Quest.

A public groundbreaking will not take place due to COVID-19 precautions. The estimated completion date is the first quarter of 2021.
