Epps Aviation announces it has begun installation of the newly released Garmin Citation Excel G5000 Flight Deck STC. The G5000 retrofit replaces the OEM’s Honeywell Primus 1000. The G5000 advanced flight deck update for Cessna Citation Excel and XLS series aircraft includes 3 high-resolution widescreen displays with integrated engine-indicating and crew-alerting system (EICAS), dual touchscreen display/controllers and intuitive menu interface, full WAAS FMS integration (able to fly LPV approaches), dual-channel digital flight control system and Garmin’s advance weather radar. Optional features include Garmin SVT (Synthetic Vision Technology), Data Comm/Link 2000+/CPDLC, SurfaceWatch™ and Connext® cockpit connectivity. Removal of the old wiring and avionics is estimated to save about 200 pounds and reduce the cost to maintain the older avionics.
